Francisco Coll García

Born in Valencia, Spain in 1985, Francisco Coll studied trombone at the Joaquín Rodrigo Conservatorie of Music in Valencia and Royal Conservatorie of Music in Madrid and he got a Honour Prize. At the same time, he studied composition with Tomás Marco.

Biography

His first acknowledged work, "Aforismos (2003) for piano solo", was played in the International Festival of Contemporany Music ENSEMS in Valencia. Canadian Brass made him his first commission ","...Whose name I don't want to remember" (2005) for double brass quintet", and the premiere was in Avery Fisher Hall of the Lincoln Center of New York [ http://www.google.com.au/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=HPAA,HPAA:2005-35,HPAA:en&q=lincoln+center+new+york ] , by Canadian Brass and the Brass Quintet of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. He won the International week of chamber music Prize for "El juego lúgubre for two pianos" ( Montserrat, 2006), and the National Award "Valencia Crea" for "La Ciudad Paranoica (2007) for ensemble of 10 players". He was 20 years old when he decided to compose his first orchestral work, "Aqua Cinereus (2006) for large orchestra"," that was premiered on the "Palau de la Musica", by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Valencia's University conducted by Cristóbal Soler. Critics said: "In twelve minutes, Aqua Cinereus pleased because of the fluency use of the great orchestral instrument, as in vertical lines as in horizontal ones, mainly by the timbrical imagination that was very convincingly justified, even the incorporation of a harpsichord in the group" His music has been played by Canadian Brass, Philharmonic Orchestra of the Valencia's University, Breno Ambrosini, David Kuiken, Brass Quintet of the New York Philharmonic,...etc, his pieces has been conducted by himself, Cristóbal Soler, Henry Adams, Sebastián Mariné ...etc, at festivals and places like International Festival of Contemporany Music ENSEMS (Valencia), Manuel de Falla Hall of the RCSMM (Madrid, Spain), Brass Week of Bar Harvor (Maine, E.E.U.U.), XXVI edition of the International Week of Chamber Music "SIMC" (Montserrat, Valencia), Institute Curtis of Music (Philadelphia, E.E.U.U.), Avery Fisher Hall of the Lincoln Center (New York, E.E.U.U.)...

As interpreter he has collaborated with the Mediterraneo Symphony Orchestra, Filarmonía Orchestra, Torrent's City Symphony Orchestra, ...etc. And he is a member of the Youth Orchestra of the "Generalitat Valenciana" (JOGV), and the Valencia's University Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2005 he won the "Vicent Galbis" interpretation Prize, and in 2007 he won young performers "Villa Castellnovo" Prize.
