Russia . It is located along theTrans-Siberian Railway , at coord|58|8|N|52|40|E|region:RU_type:city(100,894). Population: 100,894 (2002 Census).The town was founded in the 16th century as a village; town status was granted to it in 1780.
Olga Knipper , wife of the famous Russian writerAnton Chekhov , was born in Glazov. During theRussian Civil War the town was of considerable military importance. It was taken byKolchak 's generalAnatoly Pepelyayev on 2 June, 1919.There are five establishments of higher education in the city, notably
