Robert Sabino

Robert Sabino is a professional keyboardist. He was born and raised in the Bronx. Although he was classically trained, he became a devote student and fan of Rock and Roll.

In 1975 Sabino became a professional composer and session keyboardist, most notabley recording and touring with artists such as Bryan Adams, Laurie Anderson, Ashford & Simpson, Philip Bailey, Jeff Beck, David Bowie, Kim Carnes, Roseanne Cash, Chic, Rodney Crowell, Peter Frampton, Ace Frehley (Kiss), Art Garfunkel, Herbie Hancock, Debbie Harry, Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers Band), Mick Jagger, Mick Jones, Madonna, Johnny Mathis, Odyssey, Teddy Pendergrass, Power Station, Diane Richards, Diana Ross, Elliot Rothpearl, Todd Rundgren, John Sebastian, Nick Seeger, Charlie Sexton, Annie and The Natural Wonder Band, Jules Shear, *he Simms Brothers Band, Carly Simon, Paul Simon, Simon and Garfunkel, Sister Sledge, Chris Spedding, Fonzi Thornton, Tin Huey, and Steve Winwood. He was also a permanent member of the disco group Chic, playing on such classic records as "Dance Dance Dance" "Le Freak" and "Good Times". He also played on such famous records Sister Sledge's "We Are Family" and playing keyboard and synth on Madonna's Like a Virgin Album.

Throughout the '80s he toured and even wrote songs for these musicians as well befriending many of them, becoming an unknown icon in the music industry. His musical contributions are so diverse as to span from recording the Care Bears soundtrack with John Sebastian to writing tracks for Peter Frampton. His last professional gig was touring with Todd Rundgren.

Now, Sabino lives a modest life. He is the musical director of his local church as well as sharing his rock and roll experience with the new generation by teaching Rock & Roll History at UC Davis. Sometimes he masquarades as a Randy Newman impersonator.
