Volume of the Earth

The volume of the Earth is about 1,080,000,000,000,000,000,000 m3, or = 1.08×1021 m3, in scientific notation. See 1 E+21 m³ for other things of about this volume.

Calculation

Earth is an oblate spheroid, resembling a sphere flattened at the poles. While it is possible to take the take the non-spherical aspects into account, it is not usually done, as the gain in accuracy is not usually relevant.

The volume of a sphere is

:V = frac{4}{3}pi r^3

The average radius of the earth is 6.37×106 m, plugging that into the equation above the number listed above.
