Alan M. Barrett is a Senior Research Officer at the
Economic and Social Research Institute ,Dublin ,Ireland , where he coordinates the research programme on [http://www.esri.ie/research/research_areas/migration/ migration] . He is a Research Fellow of theInstitute for the Study of Labor , and a regular lecturer atTrinity College, Dublin . He obtained his PhD atMichigan State University .Barrett specialises in
labour economics ,migration , andenvironmental economics . He is best known, however, for his work on short-term forecasts of the Irish economy.
