Lillian Ross (born
June 8 ,1917 ) is an Americanjournalist and author who has been a staff writer atThe New Yorker since1949 . She was born inSyracuse, New York , the daughter of Louis and Edna (Rosenson) Ross. With the exception of hermemoir "Here but Not Here", about her relationship withWilliam Shawn , she has been extremely reticent to make the details of her life public. In her writing she makes the narrator (herself) as invisible as she can.Bibliography
