TV Pendidikan ("Education TV" in Malay) is an education television channel which now airs on Malaysia's terrestrial channel, TV9. TV Pendidikan is fully owned and produced by the Educational Technology Division, the Ministry of Education of Malaysia and it shows various programmes for various school subjects. The motto for TV Pendidikan is "Teknologi Untuk Pendidikan Bestari".

History

TV Pendidikan was officially launched on 19 June 1972 by the Second Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Abdul Razak. Since 3 January 2007, TV Pendidikan is aired on Malaysia's terrestrial channel, TV9. Previously, TV Pendidikan was aired through Astro's Channel 28 (from 2000 to 2002), Channel 13 (from 2002 to 2006) and Malaysia's terrestrial television station RTM1 and RTM2 (from 1972 to 1999).

Content

RTM (1972-1999)

TV Pendidikan was on RTM1 and RTM2 (Malaysia) alternately in the morning and the afternoon until the late 1990s where RTM2 airs it in the morning.

Astro (2000-2006)

When TV Pendidikan was available on Astro since 2000, Channel 28 aired two separate networks. TV Pendidikan aired from Monday to Thursday 9.00 am. to 5.00 pm. while Animal Planet occupied the rest of the time. (Animal Planet is now in full time broadcast on channel 556.)

TV Pendidikan moved to Channel 13 in 2002 where they aired two separate networks, which was TV Pendidikan itself and TechTV, a channel that features news and shows about computer, technology and the Internet. TV Pendidikan aired Monday to Thursday from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm., while TechTV occupied the rest of the time.

Since 1st March 2006, all G4 programmes were shown on Astro TVIQ, Astro's educational channel while channel 13 only shows educational programmes. Now, the G4 programmes are no longer airing on Astro TVIQ. Astro also no longer carries TV Pendidikan on its platform since 1st January 2007.

TV9 (Present)

TV Pendidikan broadcasting hour is from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm every Monday to Thursday, including the school holidays. For the first time, TV Pendidikan had placed a permanent logo at the top-left of the screen and aired simultaneously with the TV9 logo at the top-right only during 4 hours of programming.

The programme covers nine subjects for secondary school which are:

* Bahasa Malaysia
* English
* Mathematics
* Science
* History
* Geography
* Technical and Vocational
* Islamic Studies
* Moral Studies

Meanwhile, for primary school, the program covers six subjects which are:

* Bahasa Melayu
* English
* Mathematics
* Science
* Moral Studies
* Civic and Nationality

Besides that, TV Pendidikan also have special show for public viewers such as:

* Pedagogy
* Kerjaya (lit: Career) - formerly aired , produced by NHF Productions Sdn Bhd
* Lensa TVP (lit: TVP Lens)
* Laman Minda (lit: Mind Garden)- live telecast which formerly named as Bicara.

TV9 also have special show for public viewers such as:

* Motivasi Murid (lit: Pupil Motivation)
* Bijak Belajar (lit: Smart Learning) - formerly aired, first aired on TV3 in the 1990s
* Anak Siapa Ni Eh - first aired in 2006.
* Kerjaya dan Kaunseling (lit: Career and Counseling)
