Mark Hambourg (b. 1879) and the distinguished cellistBoris Hambourg (b. 1884), the sons ofMichael Hambourg (pianist). Jan studied first inLondon withAugust Wilhelmj andÉmile Sauret , then inFrankfort-am-Main withHikeerman , inPrague withOtakar Ševčík and inBrussels withEugène Ysaÿe , who also gave instruction to his brother Boris. Jan made his debut inBerlin in 1905.Source
