Gustavus Myers

Gustavus Myers (March 20 1872 – December 7 1942) was an American reporter, historian and feature writer. His name is associated with the muckraking era of American literature.

In 1984, the Gustavus Myers Center for the Study of Bigotry and Human Rights was founded. Since 2001, the organization gives out an award for books "which extend our understanding of the root causes of bigotry and the range of options we as humans have in constructing alternative ways to share power" [ [http://www.myerscenter.org/ Gustavus Myers Center's Web site] , retrived January 28, 2008] .
