Protestantism in El Salvador

Although nominally Roman Catholic, Protestantism is growing rapidly in El Salvador and already represents more than 20% of the population. [ [http://www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/irf/2005/51638.htm International Religious Freedom Report 2005] ] Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist and Seventh-Day Adventist churches are all growing rapidly, as are Pentecostals.

First [http://caminternational.gospelcom.net/about-cam-international/fields/el-salvador.php CAM] missionaries arrived in El Salvador in the 1890s. Today there are more than 150 CAM churches representing some 13,000 believers.

First Seventh-Day Adventist missionaries came in 1915 [ [http://www.adventistatlas.org/CtryList_byYearEntered.asp Adventist Atlas ] ] , today there are estimated 150,000 Adventists in El Salvador [ [http://www.adventistatlas.org/viewCountry.asp?CtryCode=SV Adventist Atlas ] ] . Adventist Church also has FM radio station in the capital city San Salvador called "La Voz del Evangelio Eterno" [ [http://news.adventist.org/data/1998/914354360/index.html.en Adventist News Agency ] ] , as well as a number of schools within the Seventh-day Adventist education system.
