C.E.V.S CHANDIGARH

C.E.V.S,Centre for Environment and Vocational Studies is a department in Panjab University,India. Established in 2002 by the efforts of well renowned ecologist Dr.Ravindra kumar kohli. This department was started with an aim to produce able environmentalists.

History

C.E.V.S was originally called Centre for Vocational Studies.But with the introduction of environment science in 2001 it adopted its current name Centre for Environment and Vocational Studies. It no more supports Vocational Studies. It started its first post graduate course in 2002.

It was in 2006, it adopted Solid Waste Management course. It is the very first course of its type in India and is UGC granted course.

Ila Florance Joseph ([e-mail]) and Kamalpreet Kaur ([e-mail]) are first Solid Waste Management professionals to be placed by Municipal Solid Waste Processing Plant, a joint venture of JAYPEE GROUP and Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, India which is the first of its kind in whole North-India.

Vibhor sood has been credited being the only male under this course in India.

There are around 80 students and 5 faculty members in this department. Dr.R.K.Kohli is the coordinator of this department.
