MessHall also hosts its own
library .Founders and Keyholders
The space was founded in the summer of
2003 by Salem Collo-Julin, Marc Fischer, & Brett Bloom (Temporary Services ); Marianne Fairbanks & Jane Palmer (JAM); Ava Bromberg (In the Field); Sam Gould (Red 76 ); and Dan S. Wang. Since its inception others have joined on as MessHall "key-holders," including: Mike Wolf (Network of Casual Art ); Erik Newman (www.hhuman.com), Diana Berek (The Chicago Labor and Arts Festival ), Claire Pentecost (www.clairepentecost.org), Britt Shawver (Housing Opportunities for Women) andNatasha Wheat .The space operates on a unique economic basis. MessHall pays $1 (US Dollars) per year to rent its storefront location upon the agreement that no money will exchange hands within the space. Keyholders share expenses for utilities.
