Retrieved on 2008-02-06.] is an American children's author. He has written many books and also does illustrations. The subject matter of his novels and novellas aimed at young adults is more controversial than the average juvenile fiction writer but he has become well known for his style and form.

While he has written many children's books, amongst them "Buttons", he is best known for his novels and novellas for young adults.
