The Lauterpacht Centre for International Law (LCIL) at the Faculty of Law, Cambridge, England, was founded in 1985 by Sir Elihu Lauterpacht [ [http://www.20essexst.com/bar/q_lauterpacht_e/lauterpacht.htm Sir Elihu Lauterpacht QC] at "20 Essex Street Barristers"] under the name "The Research Centre for International Law". It was renamed in 1997 "to honour the achievements of his father Sir Hersch Lauterpacht and himself". [ [http://www.squire.law.cam.ac.uk/collections/public_international_law.php Squire Law Library] at University of Cambridge] The purpose of the centre is to "promote international law by a combination of individual and group research, whether undertaken privately by scholars or funded externally, and by the publication of monographs and collections of primary materials".
