Rally of Truth

Rally of Truth

The Rally of Truth was the name given for the intended protests to be held in the Socialist Republic of Slovenia in December 1989 by supporters of Serbian Communist leader Slobodan Milosevic who intended to force Yugoslavia to give greater powers to Serbia and diminish Kosovo's autonomous status. This was done through the Anti-bureaucratic revolution which took place in Serbia's autonomous provinces of Vojvodina and Kosovo as well as in the Socialist Republic of Montenegro which the Rally of Truth was to be a part of. The rally was intended to decry Slovenia's Communist representative and leader Milan Kucan a traitor to Yugoslavia due to his opposition to Milosevic's demand for the diminishment of Kosovo's autonomy and his crackdown on Kosovo separatism. The rally intended to push for his ousting and replacement with a politician with allegiance to Milosevic.
