He became a national hero for the 90th-minute goal that gave Israel a tie against Ireland in a 2006 World Cup qualifying match.Abbas Suan is currently playing forIroni Kiryat Shmona . On August 29, 2005 Suan was featured in an exposé inSports Illustrated by Grant Wahl into the minorities that play on theIsrael national football team . He is considered by many as the best Arab-Israeli player.On June 6, 2006, Suan signed a two year contract with Maccabi Haifa worth US $100,000 per annum but later moved to Premier League newcomers
