He was elected to theCanadian House of Commons as a Member of the Progressive Conservative Party to represent theriding ofRenfrew South in the 1957 federal election. He was re-elected in 1958 and 1962. He lost in the elections of 1963, 1965 and 1968, the latter in which he was a candidate for the riding ofLanark and Renfrew . Prior to his federal political experience, he served inWorld War 2 in theRoyal Canadian Air Force for five years.
