Pier Miranda Ferraro

Pier Miranda Ferraro

Pier Miranda Ferraro (1924 – January 18, 2008) was an Italian operatic tenor.

He was born Pietro Ferraro in Altivole; his stage name was taken from his wife's name. He was trained by Mirko Bonomi at the "Conservatorio Benedetto Marcello" in Venice and by Aureliano Pertile at the "Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi" in Milan. His debut was at La Scala in 1951; he made appearances there until 1972. He also performed at Covent Garden, at the Vienna State Opera, and in South America. He was noted for his role in Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Otello", which he reprised in his final performance at Lecco in 1981.

In 1985, Ferraro started a managing agency for individuals in the opera business; the company was later co-run by his daughter. Ferraro had four children in total. He died in Milan.
