Laurie Patton

Laurie Patton is an Australian television executive - as of 2008 the Chief Executive of free-to-air television station TVS (Television Sydney).

Patton joined TVS shortly after the company was awarded its broadcast licence in 2004, bringing together a small team of industry professionals to create a fully digital broadcast operations centre and launch the channel in February 2006. The station is backed by the University of Western Sydney and Metro Screen.

A 25 year career in television began as an on-camera reporter and producer of news and current affairs programs, working for each of the three Australian commercial television networks. Patton held a range of executive positions at the Seven Network including, General Manager of Seven Queensland, General Manager Channel Seven Sydney and Network Director of Marketing.

Patton created World Movies, the highly acclaimed pay TV channel, and has held non-executive directorships on boards including Sky News Australia and the New South Wales Film and Television Office [ [http://www.fto.nsw.gov.au NSW Film and Television Office] ] .

Patton was a founding director of the Pay TV industry association now called ASTRA [ [http://www.astra.org.au ASTRA] ] . In March 2008 he co-founded ACTA, the Australian Community Television Alliance [ Australian Community Television Alliance [http://www.community.tv] ] and represents ACTA on the Federal Government's Digital Switchover Taskforce advisory committee.

Patton is currently a non-executive director of the National Heart Foundation of Australia and chair of its national marketing committee. He is also Executive Chairman of Conexion Event Management [ [http://www.conexion.com.au Conexion Event Management] ] , a Sydney based conference and exhibition company.
