George John Rehring (June 10, 1890—February 29, 1976) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of Toledo from 1950 to 1967.

Biography

George Rehring was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and ordained to the priesthood on March 28, 1914. He served as a professor at Mount St. Mary of the West Seminary in Cincinnati for a long period of time, eventually rising to become its rector.

On August 6, 1937, Rehring was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Cincinnati and Titular Bishop of "Lunda" by Pope Pius XI. He received his episcopal consecration on the following October 7 from Archbishop John McNicholas, OP, with Bishops Joseph Albers and Urban Vehr serving as co-consecrators. Rehring was later named the fourth Bishop of Toledo on July 16, 1950, and attended the Second Vatican Council from 1962 to 1965.

The Bishop retired from his post in Toledo on February 25, 1967, after a period of sixteen years. On that same date, he was appointed Titular Bishop of "Tunnuna", which he likewise resigned on December 31, 1970.

Rehring later died at the age of 85.
