George Rehring was born in Cincinnati,
Ohio , and ordained to the priesthood onMarch 28 ,1914 . He served as aprofessor at Mount St. Mary of the West Seminary in Cincinnati for a long period of time, eventually rising to become itsrector .On
August 6 ,1937 , Rehring was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Cincinnati and Titular Bishop of "Lunda" byPope Pius XI . He received his episcopal consecration on the followingOctober 7 from Archbishop John McNicholas, OP, with Bishops Joseph Albers and Urban Vehr serving as co-consecrators. Rehring was later named the fourth Bishop of Toledo onJuly 16 ,1950 , and attended theSecond Vatican Council from 1962 to 1965.The Bishop retired from his post in Toledo on
February 25 ,1967 , after a period of sixteen years. On that same date, he was appointed Titular Bishop of "Tunnuna", which he likewise resigned onDecember 31 ,1970 .Rehring later died at the age of 85.
