- Turambar and the Foalókë
"Turambar and the Foalókë" is an epic story written by
J. R. R. Tolkien (written circa 1919, published posthumously in "The History of Middle-earth ", Volume II, edited byChristopher Tolkien ), which takes place in the fictional world ofMiddle-earth . It is one of the Lost Tales of Elfinesse told by the Elves ofTol Eressëa to Ælfwine or Eriol, who found theStraight Way to the True West in the Middle Ages. The story itself is narrated by oneEltas and is about the cursed and ill-fatedTúrin Turambar , son ofHúrin Thalion (here mentioned Úrin), and the "fire-dragon" (foalókë)Glaurung (also mentioned here as Glorung or Glomund or even Glorunt)."Turambar and the Foalókë" is an early version of what came to be "The Lay of the Children of Húrin " and thenNarn i Chîn Húrin (found in the "Unfinished Tales " and also recently published independently entitled "The Children of Húrin "). It is also in a way one of the sources of the chapter entitled "Túrin Turambar" in "The Silmarillion ".See also
