Tjörn is connected in the east to the town of
Stenungsund on the mainland by theTjörn bridge , and to the island ofOrust in the north by theSkåpesund bridge . The largest town isSkärhamn , and it is also the municipal capital. Other communities, many of which are fishing communities, includeRönnäng ,Klädesholmen andKyrkesund . The island ofMjörn , north-east of Tjörn, has beautiful scenery and large shell banks.Localities

During the summer, the population swells from 15,000 to 30,000 as vacationers arrive for
yachting andswimming . Skärhamn has an ample guestharbor to accommodate yachters travelling along the Swedish west coast. The town of Skärhamn is the place of theNordic Watercolour Museum (Akvarellmuseet).ee also
