Joseph Sutherland Cruden

Joseph Sutherland Cruden (June 23, 1927-January 2, 2006) ran for parliament in the 1980 Canadian federal election in the Etobicoke Centre riding. He lost narrowly to Progressive Conservative Michael Wilson. After three PC won elections, Joe became Campaign Manager for political neophyte Allan Rock, helping him win the riding for the Liberal party, and become both Attorney General and Minister of Justice (1993-1997).

Joe and his wife, Ruth a long time citizen judge (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/cit-ann-report-2005.asp), were close to the Trudeau family. Joe and Ruth had three daughters, the youngest of which, Mary, is currently married to Peter Donolo.
