Code Orange (book)

"Code Orange" (ISBN 0385732597, 2005) Is a young adult novel by Caroline B. Cooney. It is about a teen boy by the name of Mitchell Blake "Mitty" who is care-free and doesn't worry much about his grades or school. His biology teacher Mr, Lynch assigns a report on an infectious disease. Mitty has no idea what virus he should do; But when his parents take him to their "country home" and find old medical books from 1899, Boston, he discovers something that will change his life forever. He finds an old evnvelope containing scabs from Variola Major (a sever form of smallpox) from an epidemic in 1902. It's no longer about his grades it's about finding out the unknown. It has the potential to kill everyone in New York City. He is determinded to find a cure, about a disease that is no longer in existance and that no one seems to know about. Will he be able to save his family and friends, but more importantly, himself? He is helped by Olivia,the girl he likes, and Derek, his best friend. He tries to contact anyone who can help but is captured by the wrong hands. Can he make it out alive?
