Margaret (Peg) George

Margaret (Peg) George

Peg George (Margaret Hewitt George) (1928) is an American author and politician.

She is the author or editor of several books, including recently "We Knew We Were at War: Women Remember World War II" (ISBN 9780977794409), a collection of 42 first-person accounts of women who lived through that period. The book includes stories, photos, vintage posters, and poetry. Recognizing the vast difference between the current war in which our country is now engaged when only those families with loved ones in the service are paying the price, Peg helps us see what life was like during World War II when everyone was directly impacted in some way.

An earlier book, "Never Use Your Dim Lights; Not Even in the Fog" (ISBN 0974719110) is a fictional account of George's life in politics. The book takes the reader from her days as the first woman and first Democrat on the local school board through to her days in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, where once again she was the first woman and only Democrat to have represented her legislative district.

George lives in Doylestown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania and has two sons, one daughter and four granddaughters.
