Pistolesi's highest ATP singles ranking is 71st, which he reached on August 17, 1987. His career high in doubles was at 213 set at November 17, 1986.
Nowadays he is coaching Michael Berrer. Since December 2010, he is the coach of Robin Söderling. He has helped Söderling win a title in the beginning of 2011, Brisbane, Australia.
