Tajikistan first participated at theOlympic Games as an independent nation in 1996, and has sent athletes to compete in everySummer Olympic Games since then. The nation has also competed at theWinter Olympic Games since 2002. To date,Andrei Drygin is the only person ever to have represented Tajikistan at the Winter Olympics, being his country's sole competitor in both 2002 and 2006.Previously, Tajik athletes competed as part of the
Soviet Union at the Olympics until 1988, and after thedissolution of the Soviet Union , Tajikistan was part of theUnified Team in 1992.Tajikistan won its first ever Olympic medal at the
2008 Summer Olympics , whenRasul Boqiev took the bronze medal in Men's Judo - 73kg.The
