WPVR-FM

WPVR-FM was the sister station of WFIR in Roanoke, Virginia.It is now known as WSLC-FM. In the 80's WPVR-FM took the place of WLRG- delivering easy listening music - which had changed to K-92. Various music was played from easy listening sources. The station would receive reel to reel tapes with "packaged" easy listening music. Some of the memorable were "Sven Leibach and the WPVR Strings". WPVR was a 100KW ERP FM station transmitting from Poor Mountain, in Roanoke County, VA. The studios were at Towers Mall along with WFIR until they moved to Hounds Chase Lane in Roanoke. During the early 1970's WPVR's studios were located in The Hotel Roanoke. 1977 was when the studios were relocated to Towers Mall, after WPVR ownwe Jim Giggons purchased WFIR radio.
