Larry escorts Cheryl's friend Nancy to the cinema, where an innocent bunching-up of his pants is misunderstood. He also manages to pick a fight with pal Richard Lewis' new girlfriend.
During a phone call to Jeff, Larry refers to Cheryl as Hitler, not realizing he is on speakerphone with an unappreciative audience. When Jeff leaves an apology on the Davids' answering machine, Larry concocts a phony explanation involving Kathy Griffin, a cover which she later blows.
Production
*The theatre Larry goes to is The Majestic Crest Theatre on Westwood Boulevard, which is revisited in the season two episode 'Trick or Treat'.
*The name of the fictional Dustin Hoffman movie that Larry goes to see, 'A Hard Nut To Crack', was taken from a WWII poster given to Larry David byMarjorie Gross .
*Sofia Milos (Richard's girlfirend) was cast after she was spotted on 'The Sopranos ', playing mob boss Annalisa Zucca in the episode 'Commendatori .'
*A poster for Sour Grapes is hanging in the reception of Larry's office.
*Kathy Griffin had previously appeared in two episodes of Larry David's other sitcom 'Seinfeld ', playing Susan Ross' former college room mate, Sally Weaver.Continuity
*In the one-hour special that preceded this show, Larry mentions having kids (first mentioning his daughter to a minor character, and later noting several times "I swear on the lives on my children".) Because in this and subsequent episodes of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" Larry and Cheryl never mention having children, and no David children are ever seen on the show, this is sometimes seen as a continuity error. However, Larry only ever stated that HE had children -- in fact, even when talking with Cheryl he uses the phrase "my children", not "our children". These children, then, could easily be from a previous marriage, especially given that within the continuity of the show Larry and Cheryl were married in 1994. Alternatively, Larry might be swearing on the lives of his future, as-yet-unborn children. (The reference to his 'daughter' was in the context of lying to Mark about why he missed a funeral, and could easily be another lie.)
*The Greenes appear to have two children in this episode: a boy, Sammy, and a girl, Sara. Both children are mentioned by Susie -- although there are vistors in her house at the time she says this, and it's not made clear if both children are actually hers, or if one of the children is that of a visitor. In subsequent episodes, the Greenes have but one child: there is no Sara, and son Sammy becomes daughter Samantha.
