Corneal Neutralization

Corneal Neutralization is a treatment for refractive error developed by Leonardo da Vinci in the 16th century. Circa 1508, da Vinci described a technique that would eliminate refractive error (myopia or hyperopia). This would be accomplished by having the patient place his or her face in a bowl filled with water and reading face down (fig. 1)
