MV Lochnevis

MV Lochnevis

"MV Lochnevis" is the only ferry operating in the Small Isles by Caledonian MacBrayne. She is 49.2m in length and 11.4m in breadth and her gross tonnage is 941. She can hold 190 passengers and 14 cars. The ship serves the Small Isles of Eigg, Canna, Rùm and Muck from Mallaig. The ship also does the Mallaig-Armadale run during the winter.

The "Lochnevis" was launched by Sarah Bouack at Ailsa Shipbuilding, Troon on 6th May 2000 and entered service on 1/11/2001.

The car deck is used for goods and vital equipment for the islands. "Lochnevis" has a surprisingly large vehicle ramp, which dominates her appearance. This is to allow her to berth a considerable distance from linkspans so as to protect her exposed azi-pod propulsion systems in shallow waters.
