Loch Nevis

Loch Nevis is a sea loch in Lochaber on the west coast of Scotland.

It runs inland from the Sound of Sleat, and is bounded by the peninsula of Knoydart to the north and North Morar to the south.

A small passenger ferry crosses Loch Nevis, linking the town of Mallaig with the village of Inverie in Knoydart and the hamlet of Tarbet [ [http://www.knoydart-ferry.co.uk/index.html Bruce Watt Cruises] ] . Also, the ferry operated by Caledonian MacBrayne to the Small Isles from Mallaig is named after the loch, the "MV Lochnevis" [ [http://www.calmac.co.uk/mv_loch_nevis.html MV Loch Nevis - Caledonian MacBrayne] ] .

Loch Nevis contains a number of fish farms, and in May 1998 it was the location of the first recorded outbreak of Infectious salmon anaemia in Scotland [ [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/1383987.stm "Report details disease links"] , "BBC News", 12 June 2001] .
