Ibn Abdur Rehman

Ibn Abdur Rehman, born 1 September 1930 in Harayana, India [http://www.menschenrechte.nuernberg.de/index.php?navi=1&rid=890c4d5d8b1a4d423cae3b3c4f24bb2c&artid=DG2004-03-10-4412&s=3&PHPSESSID=13574ef0afec812033c64111c4198353] , is a Pakistani peace and human-rights advocate. In 1989, he became chief editor of the Pakistan Times. He is founding chair or the Pakistan-India Peoples’ Forum for Peace and Democracy and since 1990, director of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan [http://www.hrcp-web.org/organization.cfm] . Rehman has been influential for promoting peace in the Indo-Pakistani wars and conflicts and in Kashmir as well as for other human-rights issues in Pakistan.

In 2004, he received th Ramon Magsaysay Award for Peace and International Understanding.
