The first season of the anime series "Case Closed" premiered in Japan on January 8, 1996 and ran for 25 episodes until its completion on July 22, 1996. Originally titled "Detective Conan" in Japan, the episodes are based on the manga series of the same name by Gosho Aoyama. The series is licensed is licensed for English language release in North America by Funimation Entertainment. The English dubbed episodes of the first season aired form on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block from May 24, 2004 until July 6, 2004. Funimation split the 11th episode, which aired in Japan as a one-hour special, into two episodes when it aired, causing the first English season to have 26 episodes instead of 25. The English dubbed episodes also aired in Canada on YTV's Bionix and on the Funimation Channel programming block on CoLours TV. On July 22, 2008, Funimation released their 26-episode season to Region 1 DVD in a single box set.__TOC__
