sound_title ="Ey Reqîb" (unicode|ئهٔ رهقیب inSorani ) is the Kurdishnational anthem . It was written by the Kurdish poet and political activist,Dildar , in1938 while imprisoned in Iran. "Ey Reqîb" literally means "Hey Guard", in reference to the jail guards in the prison whereDildar was held and tortured. Sometimes, the title is mistakenly translated in English as "Hey Guardian" or even "Hey Enemy". The song was originally written inSoranî and it is singed in Sorani and sometimes Kurmancî.In 1945, the song was adopted as the official anthem of theKurdistan Republic of Mahabad , a short-lived, Kurdish state of the 20th century in Iran that lasted for one year."Ey Reqîb" reappeared as the official national anthem of the Kurdistan Federal Region in
Iraq .ئهٔ رهقیب (
