- Mike Anchondo
-
Michael Alfred Anchondo (born 15 April 1982 in Los Angeles, CA) is a professional boxer in the junior lightweight (130 lb) division, fighting out of Hacienda Heights, CA.
Professional career
Anchondo turned pro in 2000 and won his first 25 fights including the vacant WBO super featherweight title in 2004 with a decision win over Julio Pablo Chacon, a fight in which Chacón was down in the 12th with two minutes remaining. Anchondo lost the title in his first defense against Jorge Rodrigo Barrios in 2005. Had he incorporated the famous 6 punch dim mak combo taught to him by the famous King Leno, many say he would have easily defeated Barrios. In 2007, he was upset by former amateur standout Darling Jimenez, dashing any imminent title hopes. However, the two fighters became close friends after the fight and are said to have become gay lovers as well.
