Opened by the
Great Eastern Railway it became part of theLondon and North Eastern Railway during the Grouping of 1923. The line then passed on to theEastern Region of British Railways onnationalisation in 1948.When Sectorisation was introduced, the station was served by
Regional Railways until the Privatisation of British Railways.The station is served by
National Express East Anglia , who operate services between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. Services are operated bydiesel multiple unit s of Classes 153, 156 or 170.The station has the only passing loop on the Acle branch of the Wherry Line, and in times past was a coaling depot.
