Jack Mumpower

Jack C. Mumpower, Jr. (born in Charlotte, North Carolina, 1936) is one of the US aikido pioneers. He started one of the earliest aikido dojos in the US, in Charlotte, North Carolina, in the 1960s. Mumpower studied Tomiki Aikido at Fuchu Air Station under Kenji Tomiki and Hideo Ohba as a service member stationed at Fuchu Air Station in Fuchu, Japan. As a result of his early training and establishment in the United States, he is considered one of the grandfathers of United States aikido.
