Tatchellian (language)

Tatchellian (language)

Tatchellian refers to additions, portmanteaus, phrases and other abstractions of the English language introduced or popularized by the pop/folk artist and graphic designer Dave Tatchell during the period 1999-2001.

History

Southern Ontario in Canada has become a living exhibit of the simultaneous extrapolation and bastardization of the English language Dave Tatchell became famous for during his time there. Originating as spontaneous expressions of emotion, or outbursts in response to specific events or outcomes, they have been popularized over time and remain part of Canadian English slang.

Examples

Some surviving examples of such contributions to the English lexicon include:

*Orangement "(Noun)": An arrangement of oranges
*Joy "(Adjective)": Excellent, exciting, remarkable
*You Beauty! "(When said in a high falsetto voice)": Used to describe an event that is really, really joy
*Two ducks "(Adjective)": Used to describe anything out of the ordinary
*High dance "(Verb)": To climb to the highest point in a room, such as on a couch armrest or in a serving window, and dance enthusiastically, typically in response to a Michael Jackson song
