The Southern Leaf-tailed Gecko ("Saltuarius swaini") is a common gecko found in forests north of Sydney. It grows up to convert|15|cm|in long, though larger specimens have been found. It has a dark brown/grayish colour, finely patterned with black.
Camouflage
When stationary it appears to be part of the tree that it rests on when hiding from predators, if this disguise does not work, it will detach its tail to confuse the predator (as all geckos can). The tail will eventually regenerate.
