Singers (Eddie Murphy track)

Singers (Eddie Murphy track)

"Singers" is the 2nd track on Eddie Murphy's 2nd album, "Comedian". The track is a recording of a piece of Murphy's stand-up special, "Delirious". The track is most famous for Murphy making fun of James Brown's vocals, particularly the scratchy nature of Brown's voice and the indistinguishable manner of Brown's lyrics. Other musical spoofs include comment on Mick Jagger's lips, a spoof of Elvis Presley complete with an imitation of Presley's thicker stature in his late years (which brought some of the performance's loudest applause), and an imitation of Michael Jackson complete with inference about his sensitivity. Murphy also pokes fun at Jimmie Walker, among others:

:"And this is the business to be in if you want some pussy. That is why I got into show business for pussy. I figured if Jimmie Walker could fuck, I'm fucking everybody."

The track is 10:04, one of the longest on the album. It was composed solely by Murphy, as was everything in the performance.
