At the conclusion of his playing career, Norcross came to
Corvallis, Oregon to become the head football coach at Oregon State. Oregon State had began their search for a coach in April, and settled late in the summer on Norcross, their third choice. This decision however turned out very well for the school. In his three seasons as the head coach from 1906 to 1909, Norcross posted an overall record of 14-4-3. In his first 72 quarters as coach, his team only gave up 4 points, a field goal in the final game of the 1906 season.cite web|url=http://www.osualum.com/s/359/index.aspx?sid=359&gid=1&pgid=422|title="The Wall "|accessdate=2008-01-09] [cite web|url=http://www.osubeavers.com/pdf3/79999.pdf?ATCLID=153842&SPID=1952&DB_OEM_ID=4700&SPSID=27968|title="Oregon State Football Media Guide"|accessdate=2008-01-09]The 1907 season was by far his best and possibly the school's best ever. In the 1907 season, the team went 6-0, scored 137 points, and gave up 0 points. The team won the unofficial championship of the Western United States after beating St. Vincent's College 10-0 in
Los Angeles, California . This "perfect" season has never, and most likely will never be repeated.cite web|url=http://books.google.com/books?id=-VvQ8F8s_20C|title="Tales from Oregon State Sports"|publisher=Sports Publishing|last=Welsch|first=Jeff|accessdate=2008-01-09|pages=p. 16-20]Personal life
