(1972)"Push Push" is a 1971 album by
jazz flautist Herbie Mann (1930 – 2003), which featuresDuane Allman . The record explored a range of popular genres, such as R&B, rock and funk music to create what "Allmusic" calls a "generally appealing, melodic and danceable" album with an "impressive crew of musicians." [ [http://www.fye.com/Push-Push-Soul-Jazz_stcVVproductId369652VVcatId458997VVviewprod.htm "Push Push" at fye.com] ]Mann was among the first jazz musicians to specialize on the flute and was a prominent jazz flautist during the 1960s. By the early 1970s, Mann had a number of songs cross over to the pop charts, which was rather rare for a jazz musician. A 1998 interview reported that "At least 25 Herbie Mann albums have made the top 200 pop charts, success denied most of his jazz peers." [ [http://www.jimnewsom.com/hm-articles.html 1998 interview] ]
