Iain Coucher

Iain Coucher (b.1962, Yorkshire), is Chief Executive of Network Rail, which he became in July 2007 following the retirement of Chief Executive John Armitt. Previously, he was Chief Executive of Tube Lines, one of the infrastructure companies under the London Underground public private partnership.

He was brought up in Doncaster and Leeds, where his father worked for the electricity generating board, and originally wanted to be an RAF pilot.

Iain attended Ashville College, a public boarding school in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. He boarded in Windermere House - part of Mallinson. Iain was a good tennis player and represented the school tennis team. Because of his French surname, he was nicknamed "Couche".

Married with 2 children, Iain lives in Daventry, Northamptonshire.
