Its seat is the town of Pasłęk, which lies approximately convert|18|km|mi|0 east of Elbląg and convert|63|km|mi|0|abbr=on north-west of the regional capital Olsztyn.

The gmina covers an area of convert|264.39|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 19,323 (out of which the population of Pasłęk amounts to 12,179, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 7,144).
