Its seat is the village of Łączna, which lies approximately convert|17|km|mi|0 south-west of Skarżysko-Kamienna and convert|18|km|mi|0|abbr=on north-east of the regional capital Kielce.

The gmina covers an area of convert|61.65|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 5,245.

The gmina contains part of the protected area called Suchedniów-Oblęgorek Landscape Park.
