Carolina Bible College (formerly Cape Fear School of Theology) is a nondenominational Bible college based in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Location

Carolina Bible College is a nondenominational postsecondary institution offering associate's and bachelor's degree programs in Biblical Studies, Ministry Skills, Mission Skills, Teacher's Skills, Counselor's Skills, Youth Skills and Church Leadership Skills.

The school is located on convert|3|acre|m2 in Fayetteville, NC, with one main building housing the chapel, classrooms, offices and library. The College is approximately convert|2|mi|km from Cross Creek Mall and approximately convert|10|mi|km west of Interstate 95.

The school primarily serves adult learners already established in ministry. Daytime courses generally consist of fulltime pastors and retirees strongly versed in the Christian scriptures. Night courses attract full and part-time pastors, as well as those in other ministerial functions. The student-to-faculty ration is 15:1, and most CBC students have fulltime employment. The school's website promotes this fact as an indication that their students attend in order to learn, rather than simply to earn a degree and enhance their employability.

Mission and Vision

The mission of Carolina Bible College is "to glorify God as we produce Biblically centered, multi-ethnic servant-leaders for the church of Jesus Christ [...] Our vision is to train multi-ethnic servant-leaders to be passionate for Christ, skillful in the Word and effective with people as they follow Christ and disciple the nations."

The school's statement on "doctrine" includes the statements on biblical inerrancy, total depravity, and an affirmation that "God created the world in six twenty-four hour days." The "philosophy" section affirms that the Bible is to be interpreted literally.

History

Carolina Bible College was founded as the Cape Fear School of Theology in 1973 by Dr. Bill Owens. In 1978, Dr. Ralph Richardson took over the leadership role, and a site was purchased and classes started in 1980, at which time the current name of the school was adopted. The school currently lists 20 faculty members.

Accreditation

Accrediting Commission International accredited CBC in January, 2001. CBC is currently pursuing full accreditation with the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) Currently, the institution belongs to the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), and the Association of Christian Continuing Education Schools and Seminaries (ACCESS). CBC is also a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).
