Its seat is the town of Toszek, which lies approximately convert|22|km|mi|0 north-west of Gliwice and convert|41|km|mi|0|abbr=on north-west of the regional capital Katowice.

The gmina covers an area of convert|98.53|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 10,204 (out of which the population of Toszek amounts to 3,822, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 6,382).
