South Eastern Regional College (SERC) is the name of the new regional further and higher education college in the south-east of Northern Ireland in the United Kingdom.
SERC was created following the merger of three Institutes of Further and Higher Education in the south-east of Northern Ireland. These were East Down Institute, Lisburn Institute and North Down & Ards Institute. The merger took effect from 1 August 2007.
Campuses in the heart of the community
The college's main campuses are situated in:
*Ballynahinch
*Bangor
*Downpatrick
*Lisburn
*Newcastle
*Newtownards
In addition, the main campuses are augmented with a group of smaller sites - often known as out-centres.
Courses, students and faculty
The college offers a wide range of full and part-time courses and has over 30,000 students and over 1,000 staff involved in the delivery of its services. It is an important employer in the region.
Following the merger of the three constituent institutes, certain corporate services have been centralised to one site. An example is the corporate finance function which is now based in the Newtownards site.
