Southern Exposure (aka SoEx) is
not-for-profit arts organization and alternative art space founded in1974 in theMission District ofSan Francisco, California .SoEx supports emerging artists and youth in a dynamic environment in which they can develop and present new work and ideas. An active presence in the Bay Area for nearly 35 years, the organization evolves in response to the needs of artists and the community, engaging the public in the artists’ work.
Programs
Exhibitions
Southern Exposure's exhibition program is curated by a committee of artists from the community and include solo shows, group shows, and juried shows. Artists that have showed at Southern Exposure include

The Artists in Education Program allows artists from the community to develop their own curriculum for local high-school age students. The workshops result in an exhibition of a collective project.
Grant Programs
SoEx provides small grants through their "Alternative Exposure Grant Program." In 2007 they provided fifteen $3,000 grants to San Francisco Bay Area visual artists and artist groups.
Public Art
Since moving from
